The Still lives inside the Wild.


From the quiet flutter of kicks to the red-cheeked awe of a mountain overlook, I document early motherhood as it actually feels.

Serving Colorado Springs and beyond, my work is an unhurried, story telling celebration of the messy and the tender. This is for the mother who knows her hands are full, but her heart is fuller.

Hey, I'm Kiana

I’m a follower of Christ, a mother to two little ones, and a data scientist by training—but Still & Wild is my creative exhale. Colorado Springs is home, where we spend our seasons wandering through the mountains.


I delight in capturing the still of a newborn and the wild of motherhood.  My specialty niches are babywearing and adventure art. My style is "storytelling" - your story! - which sits between lifestyle and documentary; I provide gentle direction when it helps a moment settle, then step back so your connection can unfold naturally.


Because I am primarily a mother, I keep my session calendar limited. This ensures I can bring my full energy and creative enthusiasm to your session and also deliver your gallery quickly.

What to expect

 

 

The Still & Wild Philospphy

 

I approach sessions differently than traditional family photography.


We get to know each other.

Before your session, we talk through your family, routines, and preferences so I don’t arrive as a stranger. I want you to feel both comfortable and timeless in what you wear, so I offer simple wardrobe guidance. Getting ready for photos shouldn’t be a stressor.


Location. Location. Location.

Some session take place at home - little ones are comfortable and routines don’t have to change. There’s no packing, rushing, or forcing a timeline that doesn’t fit this season.  Your local playground or backyard are also great. Alternatively, I love to join for a bigger adventure and I offer travel pop-ups. Whenever possible I put time into location and light scouting before our session to ensure the best consitions.


Sessions are calm and unhurried.

I offer quiet guidance when it helps moments settle, then step back and allow connection to unfold naturally. Sessions move at a calm pace, with space for pauses, feeding, and real life—especially in the newborn days.


Fast turnaround.

I photograph a limited number of families so I can prioritize quick delivery. You’ll receive your sneak peaks (usually 3 black & images) within 48 hours and the full gallery within days (max 10), not weeks—especially important if you’re hoping to share newborn images or announcements while this season is still fresh.


Full galleries, thoughtfully curated.

You receive the full gallery - hand selected, edited, and delivered as a domplete story. There’s no image selection, no upselling, and no extra decisions when you’re already tired.


Privacy is always respected.

Your images are shared only if you’re comfortable with it. Many families choose to keep their photographs private, and that choice is always honored.

Pricing

My core documentary sessions are extended time sessions compared to most photographer "mini" sessions. While I do occasionally offer petite session pop ups, I prefer to keep the time very relaxed and unhurried so that little ones have plenty of time to warm up, wiggle, snack and everything else.

Price may be on the higher end of range for:

  • Studio rental (your home is great! but if you really want a home look but elevated there are home looking studios we can use)
  • Extended families
  • Travel distance

The Full Session
